What is the IP address the router is giving the receiver? To find this out go to the setup menu of the receiver then go to hardware setup then network.

Hi RobertWy,

Have you tried to reboot your router? Also have you tried the update via an ethernet cable?

Thank you.

Its difficult to reboot the router because it is a gateway with voice and tv and internet.

And it is difficult to get an ethernet cable to the 609. Thats why I got the wireless dongle.

I will try some things tonight.

Is there any reason to upate the firmware on my 609? It is presently 1091-1100-0010-6104.

Ive read about bricking Onkyo receivers with firmware updates and I dont want to do that to mine.

My Samsung Blu-Ray player has a builtin wireless feature. It is not pingable but it was able to download and install the latest firmware version. I didn't have time to connect my ethernet connection to the 609 last night. i will try later.

Hi RobertWy,

It is always a good idea to stay current on any firmware updates that may be available. Please let me know how your test is going.

Thank you.

I noticed an insert in the UWF-1 box that says you have to do a firmware update before you can use the UWF-1 with the receiver. I am updating the firmware now over ethernet (75% complete).

Too bad I didn't read the insert before this morning. I will be back later.

The firmware upgrade worked. I won't know whether I can upgrade the firmware with the UWF-1 until the next firmware update is released. Thanks for your help.
