TX-NR509 DLNA Issue
I just purchased and received the TX-NR509 on Friday. I setup the unit this past weekend, which was VERY easy. Last evening I hard coded an IP Address to the unit and updated the firmware. I then downloaded the Android APP (which is extremely cool). However, the 509 will NOT play any MP3 file from my Android or my DLNA server. The unit will stream from Pandora without an issue as well as play streaming radio stations. The 509 will read the MP3 file, but in the upper right hand corner states it "Cannot open". I have a LG TV, which supports DLNA and it will play the same MP3 from the same server. I have tried multiple different DLNA servers (windows and linux) to the same issue. Is this a known issue? As this is the reason I purchased a Network connectable server to access my collection of song files.
Thank you

Re: TX-NR509 DLNA Issue
Hi fireweb73,
We will have to test this in our lab. In the mean time how many devices do you have connected to your network and can you go directly to the modem in a hard connection to see if that works.

Re: TX-NR509 DLNA Issue
I am connected directly to a Belkin D750 Wireless N router with a 15' straight ethernet cord into port 3 of the built in gigabit switch. The DLNA server is connected to port 4 of the same switch.
IP Addressing is as follows:
Belkin: 207.103.168.140
NR509: 207.103.168.136
DLNA Server1: 207.103.168.137
DLNA Server2: 207.103.168.132
DLNA Server3: 207.103.168.131
DLNA Server4: 207.103.168.134
DLNA LG TV: 207.103.168.147 (Wireless)
The Onkyo can see each of the DLNA servers and browse the files without issue. When I attempt to play a file, it reads the file name, prints out ID3 information on the streaming, total time length of the song, then states it cannot play it and attempts to play the next song in the folder. This happens on each of the DLNA servers that I am using (168.137 - Linux - MythTV), (168.132 - Windows 2003 Server - Mezzmo), (168.131 - Windows XP Professional- Serviio), (168.134 - Windows 7 Professional - Nero MediaHome). The first 3 machines are all Dual Core Xeon 3.2 with 4GB of RAM each, the Windows 7 Machine is a Quad Core AMD 3.4Ghz with 8GB RAM and running on Solid State Drives. The Music Folder is on a SAN running Open-E software handing out as either SMB (to Windows) or NFS (to Linux) for mounting.
The LG TV, can see all the DLNA Servers and play the MP3 files without any issues or interruptions.
As of this evening, the NR509 has now stopped playing PANDORA. It will allow you to login, see your playlists and select, then it will just keep buffering and repeating the buffering. My home internet is provided by FiOS and I have 35Mb/35Mb service. Here again, I cannot replicate this issue on my LG TV.
The Android APP is still operational, with the exception that I cannot get the music on the Android to play on the NR509. The name of the song appears on the unit for playing but nothing further. My phone is a HTC EVO phone with all the latest Sprint Software installed.
Thank you

Re: TX-NR509 DLNA Issue
Last evening I had a power outage at my house, upon power restoration, PANDORA started working. I then attempted to use the DLNA, it played 2 songs and then stopped working. Upon powering off and turning back on, the unit just kept cycling thru initialization of NET. I unplugged and reconnected the receiver and it would then again play a song or two and lock up. I tried both MP3 and PCM files for playing with the same results. I then tried the USB port and it would begin to play and then lock up. I could switch to tuner, BluRay, etc. Upon selecting USB or NET it would just keep "initializing".

Status
Is there any status on this, as I have seen MULTIPLE other users with the TX-NR line experiencing streaming issues?
Thank you

Re: TX-NR509 DLNA Issue
Hi fireweb73,
They may be similar sounding issues but each has its own individual setups and other complications involved.
On your issue I'd like for you just as a test stop all activity on the servers and just use one. You may want to reboot your one router also. In the meantime we are still awaiting word from our engineers. Thank you again for your patience.

Re: TX-NR509 DLNA Issue
I have stopped all the servers on my network, directly connected the 509 to my Windows 7 machine and still have the same issue. The song title, play time, format and encoding appear on the TV screen and then states Cannot play.

Re: TX-NR509 DLNA Issue
Hi fireweb73,
Do you have the "Obscure PSK" checked off in the router under the Guest access?

Re: TX-NR509 DLNA Issue
For what? My unit is hard wired, I am not using wireless to get to the DLNA server nor the TX-NR509

Re: TX-NR509 DLNA Issue
Hi fireweb73,
Please understand the receiver should operate the way it was designed, very simple. We have had no other issues with this unit and the issues we have had all had to do with an adjustment made in the customers router. At this point the only other suggestion I can make is to let an authorized service center further evaluate this issue for you.

Re: TX-NR509 DLNA Issue
So I need to understand here, Onkyo is NOT willing to assist without me paying for it? This is a brand new out of the box unit. From what I am reading MULTIPLE people are having the same issue as I am experiencing where as DLNA will show a server but not play music, unit locks up when using the USB and you need to pull the power cord from the outlet. Tell me how a standard Layer-3 switch would be causing a problem. The router should not be in play since all the devices are within the same subnet. Over the weekend I did change out my switch and used a Cisco 2960G 24 port switch to no avail. But then again, my current setup is working on a LG TV and not on the Onkyo, so I can see how this would be a networking issue, since I tested with the same cable (between the Onkyo and LG) to the same server on my network.
