TX-NR 807 NO SOUND!!!!!!!
I actually got mine since May of 2010 and the no sound issue started in Dec of 2011. I already brought it in for service twice, once in Jan and the other one was in April and the issue came back again and again. I don't know if the authorized service dealer is incompetent or if the receiver is just bad because it seems like it is a known issue for this model and Onkyo is not doing anything about it. All they ask us to do is to bring it to the service center and I have already brought it back twice with in 3 months and my warranty just ended in may. Don't even know what to do with this anymore. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called that number and emailed my info over but still didn't hear anything. How come this other guy on the forum has the same issue as mine where mine also failed 3 times already after brought it in for service and he gets to send it in for an engineer to take a look at it with a prepaid label and a box while i told the rep i have no box and all he told me is to bring it to a ups center so they can pack it for me out of my own expense. Does that mean not all customers are being treated equally?

Hi xcal807x,
What is your serial number from the back of the unit? I will investigate it for you.
Thank you.

Worried about service...
I purchased my HT-RC180 in May 2010, and first had the no-sound problem in April this year. Removing power and plugging back in instantly fixed it, and I thought I was OK until two weeks ago, when it happened again. That time, I had to do a factory reset. It happened again this weekend, and even the factory reset wouldn't work, so I started digging and found the dozens and dozens of posts on the boards here about the problem.
So, I call the service number, because the website says you're open Sat & Sunday.... only to be told I need to call back M-F. I call back today and the recording says call this long distance number instead... so I call 201-785-2600 and after waiting for someone, I'm told I need to email the parts dept instead, AND send a fax on top of it.
This feels like a HUGE runaround for a problem that is starting to appear as though it affects nearly every unit you sold in 2010 across several lines of products. I'm honestly hesitant to bother emailing, because I don't want to be told YET AGAIN that I need to contact someone else. I'm also worried about turnaround times based on people posting here they have to wait 2-3 months for repairs. Am I going to have to pay to ship this thing 1300 miles to the nearest service center?
If you were a responsible company that cared about your customers, you would have an official channel set up with a press release, a public apology, and an EASY way to get service to repair this very specific and VERY well-known problem. The next response I get from you guys is going to determine whether I keep this unit, or whether I go buy from your competitors and start contacting lawyers about a possible class action.
I bought my first Onkyo based on the excellent reputation you had for quality products and flawless sound. That has turned to a sinking pit in my stomach every time I press the button and get no sound from my system.

TX-NR 807 NO SOUND!!!!!!!
1) Unit breaks just over the 2 year warranty.
2) Called Onkyo customer service and waited 1hr to on hold to be told that they were unable to help me over the phone and I would need to send an email with my trouble.
3) Sent an email with the required info.
4) Wait 8days to be told that I can bring it to the nearest authorized dealer and they would do a one time fix of the HDMI/LAN board. This wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have to ship a 50lbs unit from Alaska to California on my dime. Wow I get to pay to have them fix something that should have lasted for years. Even better they haven’t fixed the issue with the board and it will most likely fail again. Then I get to spend $400 for a new board and shipping to California and be without a home theater again.
5) Sent reply back to Onkyo and have been waiting for 11days.
6) Come to the conclusion that I need to turn my back on Onkyo and start looking toward another brand. Two months without a home theater is not the reliability I thought I was paying for.

HT-RC180
I have sent 3 e-mails to the parts department.
Just spent 40 minutes on hold.
Nothing.
Same problem (No audio) just out of warranty, same inadaquate service.
Please help me get my home theater back up and running.
