onkyo tx-sr606 handshake problem
I bought this receiver new Nov 2008. Great receiver up to now. In the last 6 months when I try to watch a dvd, i get a message...searching for signal and after a few seconds the message changes to no signal and the Panasonic Bluray player times out. I'm beginning to get the same message when I want to just watch tv.

Hi tdl086,
Have you tried connecting your devices with different cables to rule out that the cables are no longer working properly? Thanks!

I just completed the "Reset" that you recommended but it had no effect on my situation. Do you have any other suggestions?

Re: onkyo tx-sr606 handshake problem
Since you mentioned that the problem is not just with the blu-ray player and also effects your TV, we can rule out that the problem is with the blu-ray player itself. The next step would be to contact and authorized service center and send it in for repair. Here is our blog post with how to locate an authorized service center: http://onkyousacustomersupportblog.wordpress.com/2011/09/13/locating-an-authorized-service-center-or-dealer/
Thank you for choosing Onkyo.

I am having what appears to be the same issue. I bought mine in early 2009 when circuit city went under. My machine won't allow pass through HDMI and it will not show any video or audio until after it had been powered on for about 20-30 minutes. It also won't show the on screen programing menu at all. I have done the same as you and tried all new cables and also have ruled out my television and PS3 by connecting them directly with no issues. I was wondering if you had found a resolution to this, and if I am indeed having the same issues as you.

Re: onkyo tx-sr606 handshake problem
Seems to be a common issues since I am also having this issue on my TX-SR606. I can get a blu-ray disc to play from my Sony BDP-S550, but not a DVD, and I will lose signal once I stop the blu-ray, so cannot change any settings in my blu-ray player. If I connect the blu-ray player directly to the TV, I have no issues.

Re: onkyo tx-sr606 handshake problem
I have the same issue. Its an HDMI switching issue. 3 of the 4 devices I have connected to my 606 do not come up right away. Its takes a good 5-10 minutes for the receiver to "warm up" and detect the signal. From what I've read there are 5 caps that need to be replaced on the HDMI input board to correct this issue.
I emailed Onkyo my info yesterday, just waiting to hear back.
