Another one with the Onkyo 807 no sound + network problems
Hi all from Germany,
I have an Onkyo 807 and the same problems that have been described in several other threads.
I noticed the sound disappearing a year ago, but ignored it since I could fairly easily get rid of it by power cycling the AVR. These past days though it got worse to the point that I can't do anything (power cycling, reset etc.) to re-enable the sound. I get no audio/sound on the main zone and the network update option is greyed out.
Zone 2 with FM radio and Zone 2 speakers though still worked before I resetted the AVR. Probably because Zone 2/3 are analogue only and don't have anything to do with the affected HDMI/audio board?
Anyways, I am from Europe/Germany and would be thankful for the correct email address for European customers. I guess I am looking for the counterpart to the parts us.onkyo.com email address. Or should I simply use the contact form on the german Onkyo site?
Any extra help/info would be appreciated.
User opus345 said in one of those other Onkyo 807 HDMI board threads "that with the NR807, they (Onkyo) have a special warranty for this issue".
I hope that's true also for European customers, since I bought mine in September 2009, so another case with a broken HDMI board after more than 2 years. Before the Onkyo I had a Yamaha. Hopefully the Onkyo customer service treats me well, considering that this seems to be a very specific problem affecting several ppl with this particular AVR.
Best regards,
Yappa

Thanks for the reply.
I contacted your german colleagues via the contact form.
Unfortunately, they didn't really take note of what I wrote and simply referred me to the list of german Onkyo service partners.
No mention of possibly accepting a "one time warranty accommodation" as in the case of lucky forum user kenm as mentioned here
Call me disappointed, considering how widespread this issue seems to be. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi yappa,
You should be hearing from someone soon. And thank you for choosing Onkyo.

Done.
Paying probably approx. 300 euro/400 USD repair for such a widespread problem that has plagued my AVR for a long time now until it broke completely, well, that would be almost half of the cost for the whole AVR...

Hi Yappa,
Again, since this forum is for USA and Canada customers only I have no idea on how this is handled you in your country.

True, and I am sorry about that. Didn't notice until it was too late. Thanks for nerverless trying to help me.
I think I'll wait until the beginning of next week - nothing so far from them - and try contacting them again myself.

Re: Another one with the Onkyo 807 no sound + network problems
Well, the problem is that I only got a response once a few weeks ago, telling me to contact the nearby service center. Since then, nothing after I tried to contact them again. Doesn't look like the European/german branch is interested to help any further.
