Blu-Ray loses signal - TX-SR706
Blu-Ray connected to receiver via HDMI. Has worked fine for two years but began to exhibit loss of signal two months ago. Was random, now permanent. Went through HDMI checklist including factory reset, no change. Replaced player and cable, no change. Other devices work fine through all HDMI ports. Receiver shows player boot-up screen, then loses signal. Player works fine when connected directly to TV. (Panasonic Blu-Ray, Panasonic TV) Thoughts?

Hi spyder,
If you are running a long HDMI cable from the receiver to your monitor, this can be the cause of the signal lost you have being experiencing. The receiver need +5v to carry high bandwidth information from the receiver to the monitor, and it seem that is not able to maintain that +5v. For troubleshooting purpose please try running a shorter HDMI cable (No longer than 10ft) from the receiver to the monitor, Or if you have a smaller monitor (20”-26”) you can bring that near the receiver and check it that way. If you are still experiencing the same problem, than the HDMI output of your receiver is no longer able to push that high bandwidth information to the monitor and would need repair. I understand going directly from the Blu-ray using that same HDMI cable it works with no issue, going straight from a direct source will always work, unless the cable is bad. Please let us know if this works, if not we will give you further instructions for service. Thank you for contacting Onkyo via our Forum.

I inspected the cable from the receiver to the TV and is 6' in length. I had an opportunity to replace the receiver in question and the signal transferred correctly. Guessing I need a repair.....
