TX-NR609 Receiver doesn't appear on Onkyo Remote 2 app for iPhone
My new Onkyo TX-NR609 should work with the Onkyo Remote 2 App for iPhone but after I launch the app it doesn't display my receiver on the app as a device to select. No devices show up on the list. It does allow for a SEARCH and also a DEMO mode. What steps do I need to take to get this App to control my 609?

Hi Geekacky,
Please make sure you have the latest version of the app. Also the app must be on the same local network as the receiver in order for it to work. Thank you for choosing Onkyo.

Still no Remote 2 for iPhone
Both the phone and the receiver are on the same network. I removed the old app and replaced it with a new one but still it doesn't appear as a device to select. What to do now?

It's a wired connection
I am using the wired ethernet connection ( and I downloaded the Firmware up date via the wired connection with no problems).

You said you downloaded the latest firmware correct? Also, do you have more than one router in your home?

Yes I have successfully installed the newest Firmware update. Yes I have a main router connected to the internet and then a second router (that has all the A/V hardware connected to it via wireless and ethernet). The second router is where the ONKYO is wired.

It could be possible that having 2 routers are interfering with the signal. Would it be possible to unplug the router that the receiver is not connected too to see if the app works then?

I could try that but the TV is connected wirelessly to that same router along with any laptop I bring into the room. If I unplug Router #1, the internet connection will disappear as it is the router that connects to the outside world. Doesn't this App use the internet for it's wireless connection?

You will be able to plug router #1 back in, this is only a test to see if that is what could be causing the issue.

When disconnecting router 2's cable to router #1, the remote still does not function. However, if I plug the receiver directly into Router #1 ( connected to the net), then the Remote App functions. However, all my other components are connected to router #2 with is located adjacent all my A/V hardware ( TV, BR disc, DirectV, security cameras, laptop) so I need to use router #2. What suggestions can you make?

Are you getting a valid IP address from the receiver? Also, have you tried bypassing the router? Thank you.

Yes I have a valid IP address on the receiver. When I bypassed the 2nd router, the Remote2 App finds the device and works. But when the hardwired to the second router, the device can't be found. I need to use the 2nd router. Maybe it's a port forwarding issue?

Unfortunately, it seems that the signal is being scrambled by the second router and their is no other way to solve the issue besides using only one router. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Thank you for choosing Onkyo.
