Can I pass the video and audio from the DirecTV HD receiver to my Samsung LCD TV without turning on my Onkyo Home Theater system and use the TV speakers through a single connection? I have my DirecTV HD receiver connected to my Onkyo HTS (HT-S7400) via HDMI. My Onkyo HTS is connected to my Samsung TV (LN46B650) via HDMI.

Yes that receiver does have a pass through feature. This information can be found on page 52 of your owners manual under HDMI Through.
