515 FW update fail? Empty 515 FW update fail?

Just got my new 515, and per the instructions out of the box I tried to update the FW. I'm not sure if the update failed, or if the new FW just totally bricked my system. But I let the update do its thing, and I came back about 90mins later. System was now turned off, and when I turned it back on the only thing that displays on the monitor is "ONKYO" w/ black background. Seems that the remote barely works, and I'm stuck.

I haven't even plugged in any components or the speakers yet, as again I was following the instructions to update FW before anything else.

Is this recoverable? Or do I have to return the system and try again?

Hi dwilly910,

Please disconnect the power from the receiver for 10 minutes also disconnect any HDMI cables specifically the one to the TV after 10 minutes please plug the unit back up and connect the HDMI cables back and see if this works. Let me know how it turns out?

I left the unit unplugged last night (both AC power and the HDMI cables). Finding same problem this morning.

Both the receiver and the monitor were off when I returned after letting the FW updates run. After I powered them up, there was no more info available (e.g., error messages). Just the "ONKYO" on the monitor, and nothing on the AV display wrt error messages.

Unit purchased maybe 10 days ago, update performed on Saturday. I believe it had FW version 1030-3103-0100 on it, but I can't get there now to confirm.

i bought this unit in dubai, it was sold-bundled with wharfedale vardus 400 speakers from the uk. i have the same problem as mentioned in this forum. whenever we i wanted to watch a blue ray movie through hdmi it just gave me a black screen on my TV, sometimes it turns blue and then back and that's it..i already downloaded the latest software that is supposed to fix this problem, but to no avail. advise anyone??
