Re: TX-NR515 - Monitor out issues (no picture)
Hi forum users,
We have discovered that the following receivers may have a firmware problem causing intermittent operational issues.
TX-NR414, HT-R758(HT-S6500)
TX-NR515, HT-RC460, HT-R791(HT-S7500), TX-NR616, HT-RC470
TX-NR717
TX-NR818
To resolve these potential issues please update your firmware to the latest version. This firmware version corrects the unexpected instances where a portion of the internal memory may stop working.
If your receiver is connected to your home network you will see the firmware update information on your TV monitor today (6/5/2012).
You may also download the firmware update from the Onkyo website via USB and update your receiver. The update via USB will be available on our website by the end of the week.
Caution
With this firmware update your receiver will be reset to factory settings. Please make a note of your settings and passwords before proceeding with this update process.

Re: TX-NR515 - Monitor out issues (no picture)
Why isn't the TX-NR609 included in that firmware update?

Re: TX-NR515 - Monitor out issues (no picture)
Can you please have them include the fix in a firmware update for the TX-NR609? Same exact symptoms as others here have posted about, just a little less often.

Darn...
Cannot believe it... So when I powered up on 6/5 updated the firmware... Yay! Today - on for about 2 hours and sure enough - output died along the way. Not sure when, but the tried and true method of unplugging and replugging did the trick. Come on sirs!!!! Please fix!!!!!! Let me know asap!!!!

even better....
Unplugged - plugged in to reset... (I have a 515) left the room... Daughter went to watch TV and reverted right back to output not working. This was after about 15 minutes. Holy Cow - not good.

Just to be clear...
I completed the firmware updates for my 515 on Tuesday that were supposed to address the video out dropping, which I have since posted did not. In subsequent posts I have read that there are updates coming and now another on Thursday? Am I to take this as ADDITIONAL updates to the 6/5 ones?
So you have another update released Thursday (6/ that will address this problem? If this is the case I will deal with this later today. I really hope that this solves this problem.
Please let me know,
Thanks.

Re: TX-NR515 - Monitor out issues (no picture)
Well Onkyo, I guess you let me down again.
No upgrade available and I even downloaded it onto a flash drive and I don't get any option to install.
Oh well, receiver shopping again. You had your chance.

Can't even try it
It's 6/9. My NR515 still doesn't show a new firmware available.
I tried downloading it and using a flash drive, but nothing happens when I plug it in. Frustrated.

Monitor Out Problem Still Exists
I completed the 6/8 firmware update however the monitor out problem appeared again on 6/9. Unplugging the unit and plugging it back in fixed the issue. Appears the firmware update has not resolved the issue. I would love to return this unit. Try again Onkyo.

We are all in the same boat.
Hello, Onkyo....
OK, so I tried to install the update via USB because its not available online. The Unit will not install anything when I have the unzipped folders on the flash drive.
I hope that you will put it online, but based on the above posts it is not helping anyway.
Check this out - If I am listening to pandora for instance, I shut off the TV because I dont need to see the menu screen and I dont need to waste electric for the TV once I have the music playing. I might be wrong, but I believe that if I left the TV on, that floating dot screen saver stays on and the HDMI "out" doesn't drop. If, however, I shut off the TV, that seems to be at least one cause for the HDMI "out" to disconnect and the only cure in unplug and plug in. Not sure if this is every time, but Ive been trying to pay attention. meanwhile, like the above posters, I had to unplug and plug in again today.
This is a really bad flaw. I'm trying to be patient, but I cant imagine owning this machine that I have to keep digging out the power cord. Please tell me what this is and what plans we should expect. No way should we all have the same problem and no solution.

Tried the new firmware but it doesn't solve the issue
Last Friday evening I loaded the new firmware, did a reset and completed (once again) initial setup. Leave it standby over night. The issue came up again next morning. Still require a power reset to get back HDMI video.
So the new firmware doesn't solve the issue, at least not on my TX-NR515.

Specific Model Numbers..
Just to clarify, everyone is having the issue on the TX-NR515, right? Is anyone experiencing this with the 414 or 616 or 717? I do see that Onkyo posted the models subject to the firmware include the other models, but is anyone actually having issues with those models? I have a 414 that is working fine in another setup..

Problems with TX-NR616
I have the same problem with the 616. I am an integrator with 4 installed. Three have consistently had the problem.
One unit has NEVER had the problem. That, for me points to a component failure, not a firmware issue. I will begin to replace
the Onkyo's with Denon this week if the latest firmware upgrade fails.

Question...
Of course, I hope that you guys figure this out. but if for whatever reason this cannot be solved with an update... What are your plans? This is a very popular thread... And we all have the same issue.

In a word, DENON
I currently have one customer who will not wait. I have a Denon AVR 2312 in transit to replace his 616 if this update that I installed Saturday doesn't work. Then I will start the process of switching out the other two.
I have one 616 that has been installed for a month that has never had the problem.
That makes me think this is a component issue rather than firmware
