TXNR414 downloaded the firmware update via my network, but now can not be found on my network.
I can't figure out how to stream music from my PC to the receiver. I have media sharing enabled but the receiver can not be found on my network and it won't connect to any of the options in the NET menu. When I first plugged in the ethernet cable it downloaded the firmware update, but after that it hasn't worked. I've tried turning off DHCP and manually inputting the information but it is still giving me trouble. I have also tried turning the "Network Standby" mode on and off.

Hi McSquizzee,
Try to unplug the receiver and leave it unplugged for five minutes from power. Plug back in and give it a minute or two and turn the receiver back on. This is considered a "soft boot" While it is unplugged shut down your media sharing option from your PC, then after the re-power up, start it up again and see what happens.
I have a TX-NR717 and after I updated my firmware I was having issues. Unplugged the unit from the power supply, left out exactly 5 mins., plugged back in, waited a min. turned receiver back on and BOOM! It has worked without a problem for the past two weeks.
This is a practice I will follow whenever I do a firmware update.
You will NOT lose any of your settings doing this "soft boot"
btw, network standby is great if you want to be able to turn on your unit from the remote Onkyo App. I love it!
Good luck. Let us know how you make out. Ciao, FlyByNgt 11-27-12

Thanks, I'll try that right now. I'll update the thread with the outcome.

It worked! But then when I turned it off and back on again the DCHP was still on but with different information. Let me try this again.

Great! When you turn on the receiver do you have "network standby" enabled? You would need to if you want to wake up, or turn the receiver on. Otherwise, on my 717.. I usually turn on the receiver.. give it a min or two, then the network kicks in fine. I am on a wired network. The network menu all appears. My DCHP Server I turn on after I power on the receiver.
I would reboot you pc. Make sure the network standby is enabled if that is what you need. When you first turn on the receiver.. give it a few. Then hit the network menu and it should be all connected.
I am sorry if this does not work. But I just could not for the life of me fiqure what was up with my TX-NR717. Even with Onkyo's help and advise nothing seemed to work. This worked. My receiver has been working like a champ ever since! Good luck. Just a fellow forum user.

Thank you so much! Everything seems to be working fine now. I did turn DCHP off and manually input the IP, but it did the trick. I'm messing around with the mobile app and sharing now and it's pretty cool. My old receiver was probably older than 20 years so this is awesome.

GREAT!! I am glad to help. Like I said. I will do this whenever I do a firmware update, etc. as it does not lose all your settings. You should not have to input all you IP info. Set it to normal and it should pick up all the info.
The app is really cool!! Remember, if you want to be able to turn ON the receiver... set network standby to ON. In off mode.. it will work the app if the receiver is on. But if you hit the power (without network standby set to on) it kiils it cause the network is not active. I have been loving the app. Wish it would go in landscape mode for tablet.. but I can survive. I love streaming all my music right to the TX-NR717. You can also sit in fromt of receiver and use it to set your bass, treble, etc. to fine tune.
I have been buying Onkyo's since I was 17. I have six receivers. They all work great! (not using them all at the moment) lol.
Anyway.. ENJOY!!! Glad I was able to help you out. Ciao, FlyByNgt 11-27-12

Well now after I got it to work the "Play To" feature in Windows Media Player wasn't working. I went and checked and the receiver needed a firmware update. Now that I've updated it, it says that the ethernet cable isn't plugged in. I'm going to try unplugging the receiver again for a soft reboot. I already checked all the connections. It's quite odd.

GREAT!!!!! Like I said... This is a practice I will follow. I guess it makes sense if you think about it. After a major update like that. We would do the same with our tablets and or cells.
Very happy all is working well. The Onkyo sound is TERRIFIC CORRECT?? I have loved them for over 35 years.
ENJOY!! Pass the tip along.

Yeah, I dig the look, the controls, the sound, pretty much everything. It was just a bit confusing to set up at first. Now I need some new speakers :/

Oh no... Your addicted like I am. I went out and bought all new Klipsh Synergy Speakers with 2 killer powerd subs to go with the TX-NR717!! BOOM! Major $$$ but worth it in the long run. All matched.
The other day neighbor who is real cool called when we were watching Resident Evil Afterlife in 3D and said... Your a rocking our house!! lol. Then he and his wife came over n finished watching it with us. lol He bought a TX-NR717 yesterday and it is on the way. We are going to blow out the neighborhood.
Enjoy... Glad all worked out for you. Pass the tip along.

Hi McSquizzee,
Just a quick note to see if all is still working well? Have you had a chance and enjoy the remote App?
Glad to help. Like I said.. Pass the tip along.
