TX-NR709 24hz output issue
I am having an issue with 24hz output on my recently purchased TX-NR709 Receiver.
My equipment:
PS3 as my BD player --> Onkyo TX-NR709 receiver --> Epson 6500UB Projector
Whenever I attempt to play a BluRay with the 24hz mode enabled I will get a gray line across my screen and no picture, audio will still be coming out of the receiver. Sometimes jumping inputs on the Onkyo or the Projector will fix it, but not as often as I'd like, and certainly it doesn't seem like I should have to do this at all. If I disable the 24hz output in the PS3 everything works fine. I'm also able to reproduce the issue with a stand-alone LG BD630 BluRay player. With 24hz output enabled, I get the gray line instead of a picture, if I disable it, everything is fine. If I connect my projector up directly to either the PS3 or the LG BD630 BluRay player with the same HDMI cable and 24hz enabled I don't experience the issue.
Strangely enough, if I use the second HDMI output on the TX-NR709 I don't have any issues with switching to 24fps, but I don't have the nice Onkyo OSD, which sucks. As far as video modes on the receiver are concerned I have everything set to be "Direct" or "Through" so the receiver shouldn't be doing any additional processing of the video.
I'm not sure if this is an isolated issue between the Onkyo receivers and the Epson projector because I don't have a 2nd display capable of the 24fps input to test, but it certainly seems like the Onkyo receiver is causing my issue since a) bypassing the receiver I don't have any problems and b) using the 2nd HDMI output I don't have the issue.
Aside from this problem I otherwise love the receiver, I'm hoping the members of this forum will be able to help me resolve my issue.
Thanks!

Re: TX-NR709 24hz output issue
Hi Thejoe,
Unfortunately, it sounds like the unit needs to go in for service. You have two options to go about doing this:
1. You can contact a service center directly, here is our blog post on how to do that: http://onkyousacustomersupportblog.wordpress.com/2011/09/13/locating-an-authorized-service-center-or-dealer/
2. You can contact our parts and service department for assistance on obtaining service, they will also beable to tell you if you are still under warranty: (201) 785-2600, option 4. They are here monday-friday 9am to 5pm.
However, you did mention that the unit was recenly purchased, you may be able to bring it back for an exchange instead of having it repaired so early on.

Same issue, even with my new Oppo 93
Please let me know if you were able to to find a solution to your issue. I am having the same exact issue with the Onkyo Tx NR-809 using and Epson 6500UB as well.
