PS3 with Vudu and Dolby Plus 7.1

Hello!!

I'm trying to figure out why Vudu on my PS3 cannot playback Dolby Digital Plus 7.1.

I'm in talk with Vudu trying to figure this out, and they asked if the HT-S9400THX has the ability to decode Dolby Digital 7.1. I looked at the table in the documentation and it appears that when the input is Dolby Digital 7.1 that it'll output to 7.1 channels. Did I read this correctly??

I tested this a little more and for me to get this to work, I need to set the PS3 to output PCM 7.1 formats.

Is there a benefit in using PCM vs. Dolby formats??

Hi Dave,

PCM is simply an older form of digital and one that is used often by other manufacturers. As far as whether or not one is better then the other it all comes down to what you like.
