Audyssey microphone question...

I have an Onkyo TX-NR906 and am having difficulty calibrating the sound with the Audyssey system. The bass comes out way too loud and the rear channels are several dB louder than the front. I was told by another Onkyo owner that the microphones supplied by Onkyo was faulty and that they were replaced. Can you tell me if this is true and if so, how to obtain a replacement?
