Auto Standby TX-NR709 Empty Auto Standby TX-NR709

Post  bgare Mon Mar 12, 2012 12:09 am

I just got my TX-NR709 and I'm trying to figure out how to turn on Auto Standby. The manual said that the default setting for US models is Off. I've searched the manual and can't find how to turn it on. I also haven't left it on for a half hour with no input to test it out. I want to have it working seeing the Verizon remote won't turn the receiver off. I figure if we forget to turn it off separately from the other components it will just turn off in 30 minutes.

Thanks
Bob

Well I thought I had it fixed. This morning I found the receiver on 2hrs after my wife left for work.

All other components were turned off.
Cable box, TV, turntable (non usb, pre-amp off), PS3, cd/dvd, wireless internet plugged in to USB port and receiver input set to CBL/SAT, Powered Sub woofer turns off in 10 minutes.

Hi bgare,

Do any of the following apply to your situation?

•Set to “On”, the Auto Standby function may activate itself
during playback with some sources.
•The Auto Standby function does not work when Zone 2 is on.

Hi bgare,

Then I would suggest an authorized service center for further evaluation. They can be found on our main page at www.onkyousa.com under support.

I'm thinking one of the other components when turned off is still sending a signal or something. I'll try disconnected things one at a time.

Auto Standby TX-NR709 Empty How can I turn off auto standby

Post  meteoro Fri Sep 21, 2012 11:14 am

Good morning, I have an Onkyo TX-NR509 AV receiver. Not if European or U.S. model. When I'm listening between 20 and 30 minutes aprox. to my iPod via USB port the Onkyo turn off. This does not happen when I'm listening to the radio or watching a movie.
I read in the manual that automatically shuts off if standby mode is active and with some sources, the Auto Standby function may activate itself During Playback.
Default settings for auto standby: models and models europes U.S. ON OFF.
I think my model is European and that this feature is by default.
How I can pass the Auto standby ON to OFF?
Thank you very much.
Sebastian.

Hello Metero;

Correct- on the EUROPEAN models it is already defaulted to the ON setting; so you will need to reconfigure this setting to OFF. Go into the SETUP menu of the receiver and scroll down to HARDWARE SETUP and press the ENTER button. Now scroll down to AUTO STANDBY and press ENTER again. Now you will be able to toggle the selection from ON to OFF. When done, press the SETUP button to fully exit the menu.

Best Regards;
