Standby mode
When I turn off the networking & HDMI through my 3009 seems to be completely off. Is it?
If I leave HDMI through on it stays warm but starts up rather quickly. When I disable HDMI through it has to go through the procedure of HDMI startup.
Which method is better for the longevity of the receiver? How much power does the unit use with HDMI through when it is shutdown?

Re: Standby mode
Hi dowop,
This is what is stated in the manual on page 66:
•When “HDMI Control (RIHD)” setting is set to “On”, the
power consumption on standby mode slightly increases.
(Depending on the TV status, the AV receiver will enter standby
mode as usual.)
As you can see with the (RIHD) on the power consumption increases only slightly.

Re: Standby mode
I know what the manual says.
My question was is it better for the longevity of the receiver to have the modes off or on & how much power does it consume with just HDMI STANDY on?

Re: Standby mode
Hi dowop,
We do not have that information as (Depending on the TV status, the AV receiver will enter standby
mode as usual.)
As far as what's better, that is up to the customer.

Re: Standby mode
.You dont have a clue. It is up to me if the receiver is better starting up completely cold or warm? As far as power consumption if you dont have that information who does? What exactly is the purpose of this forum?

Re: Standby mode
dowop, constructively I suggest you get a device known as the Kill-a-Watt [I can't post the link here but search Amazon]
Plug the Kill-a-Watt into the wall, and the receiver into the Kill-a-Watt, and read out the power consumption in watts in real time. That's what I'm doing, trying to figure out exactly what combination of settings is necessary to keep the power of my TX-NR709 below 1 watt.

Re: Standby mode
I will look in to that. What is your opinion of keeping the unit on stanby with the HDMI through on? I really dont use that feature but thought it would be easier on the receiver to start up from that way rather than completely cold? That is what I was really trying to find out.
If this is supposed to be a Onkyo sponsered forum they sure are a poor example. I will buy a meter. It is a shame that I could not get the info I want on this forum.

Re: Standby mode
Hi again,
After speaking with an associate he has said, "There is more of a powerconsumption if the HDMI THROUGH is on when the unit is in STANDBY, so if you are not using that feature then in our opinion you should turn off. This feature does not effect the HDMI Startup." Thank you for your patience and for you choosing Onkyo.

Re: Standby mode
I bought a watt meter. With HDMI pass through enabled the unit is using 25 watts in standby.
