Monitor Out problem - PS3 only - What to do, Onkyo?
I just got a 515. Currently using it with:
-Playstation 3 for Blu-Ray, Netfix and gaming in HDMI 1 (BD/DVD)
-My PVR in HDMI 2 CBL/SAT)
-'Monitor out' to the TV
The PVR works fine, haven't been any problems with television viewing. Ditto optical audio for my Airport Express.
But HDMI Monitor out is a nightmare with the PS3.
With the receiver set to BD/DVD and operating the PS3, EVERY TIME I switch from one app or function to another, the screen goes blue then black, and the audio and video are gone.
It dies when I do any of the following: Exit Blu-Ray playback and try to do back to the Dashboard/XMB. Launch Netflix. Close Netflix. Open the PSN Store. Close the PS3 Store. Basically anything where the system closes one program and opens another, and interrupts the HDMI link for a second.
To get the picture and sound to come back, I need to switch to another input then back to BD/DVD, or turn the power off and on.
This is unacceptable obviously. I could maybe live with it, if it only lost its HDMI connection once in awhile, while attempting to change inputs (my last amp did that), but I'm talking about When I'm staying ON THE SAME INPUT and just trying to use my device normally.
Please advise; what should i do, Onkyo?
P.s. I have the latest firmware. I also don't experience this problem (loss of HDMI connection) when switching between Apps on the Xbox 360, or with my PVR. Only with the PS3, where it occurs like clockwork, whenever I attempt to do anything. I need the PS3 to work. It's my Blu-Ray player.

I want to acknowledge this posting and advise you that we will evaluate this issue and respond promptly. We are having some networking issues with our current PS3 console and will further research and respond back shortly.
