Major TX-NR616 issues Empty Major TX-NR616 issues

I've had this TX-NR616 running for about 2 months now and have had sporadic HDMI issues since the start. The picture sometimes outputs with a pink tint and I have to switch inputs and then switch back. Other times it will flash the picture on/off/on/off repeatedly until I switch inputs and then switch back. This happens on any of the HDMI inputs but is sporadic.

Another problem I had is more alarming than that one. It detected my Playstation3 input for about a month and then it just stopped working. I could still see the PS3 video in the 'instaprevue' but not on the picture itself. No settings were changed on either device. I wasted hours and hours testing different things with no resolution. The PS3 worked everywhere else except through the Onkyo. Then, the lastest USB firmware update came out and it fixed the problem. So my PS3 is working again, but there is no explanation as to why it stopped suddenly. Firmware updates should never fix a problem like that, so I know in my heart that this Onkyo unit is destined for HDMI failure. I wish I wouldn't have updated the firmware so I can prove how broken it was! How frustrating is that?!?

Finally, last night I tried to hook up my old school Nintendo to one of the RCA inputs on the back and I can't get a picture. Sound is working, but no video. I read the fine print in the manual that the Marvell chip requires 480i to upscale, which is crappy, but I can live without the upscaling. I tried every RCA input and every setting imaginable without luck. The NES works fine on all 5 of my TVs. What's the problem with the Onkyo?
