TX-NR818 Remote will not turn "On" the receiver Empty TX-NR818 Remote will not turn "On" the receiver

After getting my new TX-NR818 all setup I have one problem. I can turn the receiver off with the remote but can not get the receiver to on with the remote. I have to manually turn it on at the receiver. Is anyone else having this problem?

Check the 'Network Standby' setting under setup/Network. If it is off, turn it on.

Thank you that worked. Everything is working perfectly now. This receiver is replacing a Denon 3808 and I just love the sound for the TX-NR818.

My network standby setting is off on my 515 and it powers up and down with the remote. Network standby should have nothing to do with solving this issue.

You're absolutely correct, but this is a workaround. Hopefully the firmware update will fix it properly. If not, my unit is going back to the store and being replaced with a Yamaha!

Onkyo, you have until Friday. I would also like to see some kind of extended warranty to cover future issues.

Hi forum users,

We have discovered that the following receivers may have a firmware problem causing intermittent operational issues.
TX-NR414, HT-R758(HT-S6500)
TX-NR515, HT-RC460, HT-R791(HT-S7500), TX-NR616, HT-RC470
TX-NR717
TX-NR818
To resolve these potential issues please update your firmware to the latest version. This firmware version corrects the unexpected instances where a portion of the internal memory may stop working.
If your receiver is connected to your home network you will see the firmware update information on your TV monitor today (6/5/2012).
You may also download the firmware update from the Onkyo website via USB and update your receiver. The update via USB will be available on our website by the end of the week.
Caution
With this firmware update your receiver will be reset to factory settings. Please make a note of your settings and passwords before proceeding with this update process.

Hi forum users,

We have pulled the recent 2012 firmware update to make further revisions to it based on customer feedback. We expect to re-release it very soon. We apologize for the inconvenience.
