Need TX-NR809 A/V Receiver network (TCP/IP or UDP) port numbers
TX-NR809 stops DLNA streaming after 30 minutes. Receive "DLNA no server" message.
When streaming FLAC audio files from PC to TX-NR809 receiver, DLNA stops streaming audio after 30 minutes. If TX-NR809 receiver LAN cable is directly plugged into the PC nic card audio streaming works perfect.
Using Netgear N600 WNDR3800 wireless router. Netgear support suggest I set up Port Forwarding on my router. I will need the TX-NR809 network (TCP/IP or UDP) port numbers to make these settings.
Does anyone know what the TX-NR809 A/V Receiver network (TCP/IP or UDP) port numbers are?

Re: Need TX-NR809 A/V Receiver network (TCP/IP or UDP) port numbers
Hi azziz52,
I'd like for you to check your computer for any power options and or screen saver or any function that may be causing this to stop at 30 minutes. And have you been on your computer for more then 30 minutes and noticed this function does or does not work? The only ports we have on the receivers are the standard 8080 port which is pretty much on all devices. Let us know how this works out.

Re: Need TX-NR809 A/V Receiver network (TCP/IP or UDP) port numbers
All of my PC power options are set to never turn off and I do not have a screen saver enabled.
Again, if the TX-NR809 receiver LAN cable is directly plugged into the PC nic card audio streaming works perfect. It only stops working after 30 minutes when the TX-NR809 receiver LAN cable is connected to the Netgear N600 WNDR3800 wireless router.
I'm logged into my PC during the time when the audio streaming stops.
Are you saying that all Onkyo AV receivers use the standard 8080 port for networking? Is this a TCP or UDP port?

I tried using port forwarding with TCP/UDP port 8080 and DLNA audio streaming still stops playing after 30 minutes.
Are there anymore suggestions to fix this issue?

I've already tried turning off the Windows firewall and it still fails.

Re: Need TX-NR809 A/V Receiver network (TCP/IP or UDP) port numbers
Hi jazziz52,
I was looking through your wireless manual and there appears to be several things that could block the transmission after a certain period of time. When you contacted netgear and spoke with a rep there was it a 2nd or 3rd tier support rep as I believe they will be best able to help to with setting up the router other than the port forwarding.

I tried using a different CAT5 LAN cable. This did not fix problem.
Please let me know if I need to change any of the following settings.

Re: Need TX-NR809 A/V Receiver network (TCP/IP or UDP) port numbers
Hi jazziz52,
Okay, please change your "Advertisement Period" to 1440 if you can. I noticed in the router manual it is defaulted to 30 minutes. If you do not know how please contact Netgear to assist you. Let me know how this works out.

I changed the "Advertisement Period" to 1440 on the router. This did not fix the problem.

Re: Need TX-NR809 A/V Receiver network (TCP/IP or UDP) port numbers
Hi jazziz52,
At this point the only thing I can suggest is to contact Netgear again and speak with a tier 2 or 3 support rep. But before you do that please reset the receiver and your network so that everything will be sync'd up.

Firewall might be the culprit
I read somewhere that when receiver drops connections like this it could be the firewall settings blocking certain ports. The suggestion from McAfee is to go to the firewall setting and open the port to all PCs. Here is the link service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100887

Its not the windows firewall. Its the firewall that comes with your anti-virus. Like McAfee has a firewall.jazziz52 wrote:I tried disabling the Windows firewall but the DLNA music streaming still stops playing after 30 minutes.

Hi jazziz52,
Have you contacted Netgear yet? 2nd or 3rd tier support should be able to help you with your issue.

check the Routers event Log
What you need to do is check the router's event log, record the time of a connection drop out and check the event log at that time and see what sort of error you might have. This should not be a problem with the receiver. From what I understand trying different DLNA server software can help.
I took the time to setup DLNA on my TX-NR709 no problem at all with my D-Link DIR-655 router. I loaded up TVersity just to get thing rolling very restricted on the music playback, apparently will not do MP4's, I am just playing with it for now. Onkyo is there DLNA software for PC your engineers like?
I loaded the GoodPlayer App from iTunes on my iPod Touch 4G works great!

Re: Need TX-NR809 A/V Receiver network (TCP/IP or UDP) port numbers
The problem has been isolated to my Netgear N600 WNDR3800 router. If I remove the router from my network the DLNA music streaming works fine. Netgear support can not figure out what is causing it to stop at exactly 30 minutes of play time. Netgear even sent me a new router but it still fails.
Here are the latest suggestions from Netgear Support. I'll try these today.
Router settings:
1. Port forwarding 8080
2. Assign static IP address 192.168.1.20 to Onkyo
3. Set Primary and Secondary DNS server addresses.
4. Make sure to turn off the Proxy Server on Onkyo.
