okyno receiver

having problems with receiver surround sound
works great with sky hd and blue ray but when i press av button to access freeview i cannot get surround sound to tv. engineer from okyno told me what to do but it didnt work.i need to access freeview incase sky goes down . engineer told me to put audio out on back of amp into audio in on back of tv then go into dig audio in the set up up menu and check that there are no audiodigital input assigned to tv in the ampo .all this has been done but i am still getting no sound from the amp to tv.all leads from sky/blue ray and tv are hdmi
anyone out there who can help as its doing my head in now !!

In order to assist you further I will need to know which model Onkyo receiver you have as well as what model if any for the "freeview"?

RECEIVER IS HT-R390 TV IS A TOSHIBA REGZA WLT66 SERIES WITH BUILT IN FREEVIEW

Have you checked with Toshiba on the freeview audio issue? Also did you make sure that your TV is set to output the audio from that port?

IT SAYS IN TOSH MANUAL TO GO INTO SOUND MENU AND CHECK THE SPEAKER OPTION IS SET TO OFF. HAVE DONE THIS AS WELL BUT STILL NO SOUND FROM AMP ?

Please make sure that you have only speakers “A” on only as if both A & B are on together this will not give you surround sound. Also the following should be the opposite of what is written:

Put audio out on back of amp into audio in on back of TV (Should be audio out from the back of the TV to Audio in on the back of the receiver).
