Receiver not accessible
I have the HT-R390 and when either watching music or videos on my PS3 none of the audio or setup menus are accessible. It works fine thru my TV and all connections are thru HDMI. I also have an issue where if the TV is already on and I turn on the receiver, it defaults to TV/CD audio and I have it configured to CBL/SAT, it shows up on the TV but you cant hear anything. Is there any way to fix these things or is this just how it is?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kevin

Re: Receiver not accessible
Hi Kevin,
I am going to ask you to perform a reset on the unit. Before doing so please read our blog post on the subject. It will give you all the information you need to know as well as how to do the reset. http://onkyousacustomersupportblog.wordpress.com/2011/09/12/factory-reset/ Thank you for Choosing Onkyo.

Re: Receiver not accessible
I did this but it did not resolve the issue. Is there something else I can do? I would also like to ask how to listen to one channel and view another?

Re: Receiver not accessible
Hi Squez,
On the first issue, how long is the HDMI cable from the back of the receiver to the TV, also what is the highest resolution your TV can handle? On the second issue, with the new models the only way to listen to one program while watching another is use configuring the TV/CD input as it has no video connected with it.

Re: Receiver not accessible
I think its a 10 foot HDMI cable. The TV is 1080i/p 46" Samsung

Re: Receiver not accessible
Hi Squez,
Have you made sure that you only see “speaker a” highlighted on the front of the receiver and not both “a & b”?

Re: Receiver not accessible
Yes just speaker a is lit. Its not that I cant hear audio, my problem is that the audio menus are not accessable while using my Playstation 3. I cannot change any listening modes or see audio setup menus. The only thing I can change is the tone (bass & treble). If I press audio or setup on my remote nothing happens. This only happens when watching movies or playing games on the PS3. Everything works fine when watching TV (DirecTV). There have been instances where I would like to change the sub-woofer level when watching a movie on the PS3 and its shaking the windows
Thanks
Kevin
Thanks
Kevin

Re: Receiver not accessible
Hi Squez,
When you are using the remote that came with the system are you pressing the receiver button first before pressing either the setup or the audio button? If so then have you made sure the remote ID was correct (Matching both the unit and the remote to the same number)?

Re: Receiver not accessible
OK DUH! Its odd that I don't have to do that when it switches to CBL/SAT but apparently I do when it switched to BD/DVD.
Thanks for your help! That issue is resovled (and you have no idea how many times I've told people to do that!)
