UWF-1 Problems Empty UWF-1 Problems

Post  Harpya Fri Oct 28, 2011 11:55 am

Hi there,

I have a TX-NR809 with the latest firmware and a UWF-1 WiFi dongle, and can't get it to work properly.

Even though the Wifi Router (Linksys WRT 54) is in the same room (but around two corners/walls), I can't get reliable webradio playback or even access at most times.

Changing the WiFi channels got the reception up from around 40 percent to 75+ percent connection strength - but still no luck. Even moving the router next to the Onkyo resulting in 98 percent connection strength (why not 100%??) still leads to occasional drop outs or flat out refusal in playback.

Please note that other WiFi devices - laptop, iPhone, PS3 (about 2 feet next to the Onkyo) work fine - even from further away.

This is really annoying me, does anyone have an idea?

Many thanks!

Harpya

Hi Harpya,
We would need to know the following to further assist you: Does this happen on all of the stations you are trying to play or in one particular format such as Vtuner or Pandora... And also does this happen when the router is connected directly to the receiver via an ethernet cable? One last thing is the router a G series or a GL series or a G2? Thanks!

Forgot one last thing: Do you have the latest firmware update on your router?

Thank you for the fast reply.

The router is the WRT54G2 V1.3.

Regarding the webradio stations, I have accounts with three. Pandora is the most unreliable, Slacker and Last FM are a little better when it comes to playback, but they have hickups as well.

I am not home at the moment, so I cannot try out lan access, but will do in the afternoon.

Regards,
Chris

EDIT: Firmware of the router is up to date.

Hi there,
hope its not too late for an answer today:

With the ethernet cable plugged in (to the same router), the net and Internet radio works like a charm.

Any ideas?
Many thanks -
Chris
