TX-NR709 crackling in speakers. Empty TX-NR709 crackling in speakers.

I noticed I'm not the first person to post about having such an issue... I've seen it on here with other models and with my model... As a first time Onkyo customer, this is very discouraging...

I recently purchased this model, and regardless of what source I play from, there is a wicked crackling out of both surround speakers. Everything is connected via HDMI, I verified all connections to speakers, re-ran calibration, tried manually tweaking things... Never had issue with previous receiver I just upgraded from (not Onkyo), and now this terribly annoying issue...

Please advise...

I would search these forums or read the manual to find the procedure, and try a full reset. At this point you have nothing else to lose?

Hi D Bone,

Thank you for your assistance.

To Dtsmith124,

If the reset does not work then it would need to be serviced. Authorized service centers can be found on our main page under support.

Hi D Bone

Is your problem fixed? I have the same issue with my TX-NR709. I didn't updated my receiver to the latest firmware yet.

For those having this issue with their TX-NR 709 units; Please refer to the PRESS RELEASE regarding the issue with your receiver and follow the instructions to having your unit serviced: http://www.onkyousa.com/press_releases.cfm?id=253. If you are unable to have this processed from this weblink, please contact our Product Support department for further assistance.

You will need to provide the serial number (usually located on the shipping box of the receiver or in the rear of the receiver). It is written on a white sticker and usually is written in this format: (# # # D _ # # # # # # # # # _ ). Please verify the correct serial number for your receiver ( # # # # D D# # # # # # # # # A). If you are still experiencing the same issue , Please contact our Product Support Dept for further assistance with this specific issue via our phone number and hours of operation (Monday- Sunday 24 hours a day: (800) 229-1687; option #3 PRODUCT SUPPORT). We would like to speak with you and work to troubleshoot and resolve your issue as prompt as possible.

Thank You;

Hi

I checked if my unit needs the suggested update but apparently my issue is something else. My exact problem is that the sound of only the surround left speaker is crackled. I already tried another speaker and another cable but still the same issue. So I think that the surround left output produces a bad signal. If I install my 5.1 system using the surround back left/right outputs the sound is great only are those outputs when you've a 7.1 system and the audysses setup fails when you install the speakers like this.

Does my unit needs to be serviced?

Yes Krispi;

Your product will require warranty service to repair the issue you have currently experiencing. Here is the information on how to obtain warranty service for your product and the nearest service center locations to drop off/send your product for warranty service.

Please input your name, address, telephone number, and serial number of the unit. You need to provide, at your expense, shipment of your Onkyo product to an authorized Service Center. Onkyo will pay all return shipping charges for Onkyo products that have been serviced under this warranty.

This Warranty is valid two years from date of purchase and is valid only within the territory of the United States of America. To be covered by this warranty the Onkyo product concerned must have been purchased directly from Onkyo or an Onkyo Authorized Dealer and the person seeking warranty service must reside in one of the states of the United States of America or in the District of Columbia. This warranty extends only to the original purchaser and cannot be transferred to anyone.

Please note, before shipping, you must contact the authorized service center to inform them that you will be sending your unit in for repair. Please also refer to the service center regarding any service inquiries you may have while your unit is out for servicing. To locate the nearest authorized Onkyo service center; please input your zip code/ postal code into the DEALER/ SERVICE CENTER webpage (http://www.us.onkyo.com/locator.cfm?Source=hdrmenu) under the SERVICE CENTER LOCATOR field.
