TX-SR505 no sound in CBL/SAT mode
TV was on working fine. Commercial came on and got very loud then sound went out. Can't get it back. I get sound in Tuner mode (from radio) but not CBL/SAT mode. Also found powered sub is blowing fuses. No storms or lightning strikes. Will the surround speakers work without the sub connected? or does this need to be hooked up? I'm using component output from Satellite receiver to the TX-SR505. Switching both audio and video through the Onkyo. I hear the relays switching in the receiver when changing modes, but sound not getting through. Video working fine. Any suggestions?

Re: TX-SR505 no sound in CBL/SAT mode
What audio cable connection are you using from your CBL/SAT onto the receiver- Digital or RCA Composite Analog? I would need to know what audio connections you have tried and are experiencing an issue; since I already know you are using a COMPONENT VIDEO connection; I will also need to know the audio version as well. If you are still experiencing the same issue , Please contact our Product Support Dept for further assistance with this specific issue via our phone number and hours of operation (Monday- Sunday 24 hours a day: (800) 229-1687; option #3 PRODUCT SUPPORT). We would like to speak with you and work to troubleshoot and resolve your issue as prompt as possible.

Re: TX-SR505 no sound in CBL/SAT mode
Thanks for the quick response. I now have audio, but I really don't understand why. I took the component video jacks going from the satellite box to the CBL/SAT input and moved them to the VCR/DVR input. Then selected the VCR mode on the receiver and now I have sound! I did nothing with the audio cable (red/white RCA) from the satellite to the receiver. I don't get it. BUT IT'S WORKING! Can you explain this?
Thanks again!

Re: TX-SR505 no sound in CBL/SAT mode
Glad to read you were able to resolve this issue yourself. Where exactly are the RCA Composite audio cables (red and white) connected to on the rear of the receiver? It seems as if they are connected to VCR/DVR IN. Confirm exactly where these audio cables are connected- as if you wanted them to provide audio for CBL/SAT- align them into the CBL/SAT RCA terminals along with the COMPONENT VIDEO inputs. Have you also pressed the DISPLAY and/ or DIGITAL INPUT buttons on the front panel of the receiver? This will also indicate any changes made based on the selected input as well.

Re: TX-SR505 no sound in CBL/SAT mode
Lost the sound again. This time I was able to turn off the receiver via the remote control (which puts it into standby), turned it back on after about 10 seconds and the sound came back. I am using the optical output from the satellite receiver to the optical input on the CBL/Sat on the Onkyo receiver for the audio. I don't see any visible damage to the optical cable and the connections seem to be solid. Any more suggestions?
Thanks for trying to help!

Re: TX-SR505 no sound in CBL/SAT mode
In the SETUP menu of the receiver- have you already indicated under DIGITAL AUDIO INPUT submenu- that CBL/SAT is designated for OPT 1 or OPT 2 and also that VCR/DVR and/or CD are now set to ----- instead of OPT 1 and/or OPT 2?
