Digital Input - Not Available

After hooking up my new Panasonic DMP-BDT110 3D Blu-Ray Player to my Onkyo HT-S790 receiver, when hitting the Digital Input button, it keeps saying Not Available. I have the Blu-Ray Player hooked via HDMI to my Samsung HL-S6187W 61" TV PLUS my Blu-Ray Player hooked to the Onkyo HT-S790 receiver via Optical terminal. Surround does not work via DVD but does via TV. What have I done wrong?
