TX609 - zone 2 output from cable box using optical digital input?

I just switched the audio input from the cable box from RCA cables to digital optical. Zone 1 plays fine, but I can't get zone 2 to play audio form the TV/CD source. When the RCA's are connected, I get audio out to both Zone 1 & Zone 2. I'm trying to troubleshoot this, or determine if I should just go back to the RCA cables?

Only analog signals will work for Zone 2 - Digital Signal will not be passed -Not a Trouble that is the way it is designed.

Quick follow up question on this topic. If zone 2 only plays analog, and I have the cable box hooked up to the receiver w an HDMI cable, will zone 2 not play audio fron the TV/cable source? Will I need to hook the receiver up w/ RCA's to play zone 2?

Hi sdumin,

Even in that configuration zone-2 still needs an analog connection. You can go either from the TV or the source input device.

As suggested if your cable box has rca audio out puts (or whatever audio Source) run those leads to another 609 input and then choose that for zone 2
