Zone 2 Volume Control via Line Out Empty Zone 2 Volume Control via Line Out

Hello!!

I have a HT-R990 and just got an additional amplifier (Onkyo M-5160) so I can do 7.1 output while watching movies.

Per the manual:

The volume of Zone 2 must be set on the Zone 2 amp.

Is this a hardware limitation of the device, or is this something that can be fixed in software??

It would be nice to be able to control the volume as I also listen to the same source in the main room as I do outside. The issue is that I use an Apple Express as the source and the volumes are off (and the Amplifier doesn't have Volume Controls), meaning I need to turn the Apple Express down for the outside but then the Main Speakers are not loud enough.

If this isn't possible, can I turn the volume down just for the Apple Express (CD/TV) to compensate for the volume or something??

Thanks!!

Dave

Hello,

It seems that no one wants to answer this! Very Happy

The other thing that I find odd, is that it allows me to mute the zone 2, but it won't allow me to control the Volume! Do all the Onkyo's have this similar issue??

Thanks!!

Dave

Hi dlucas10,

This is the way the unit is designed.

Thank you.
