Ht-S3400 audio but no video

I have an ht-s3400 system that I bought on amazon. I have a Panasonic 46" tv connected along with an apple tv, cable and a onkyo dv-sp406 DVD player all connected via hdmi cables. Sometimes when switching between components on the amp, the television will indicate that there is no video signal, although I hear sound. If I switch between components on the amp a few times, it usually solves the issue otherwise I kill power to the amp and this usually works. On another issue, the DVD player freezes up often requiring a reset via unplugging. Any ideas?
