TX-SR309 Audio Out and ARC
Hello,
I'm looking into purchasing some wireless headphones and the most convenient thing to do would be to split the HDMI out from my receiver with one signal going to the TV and another going to the headphone base unit. My question is:
What is the audio signal sent out through the HDMI out port? is that signal the pre or post processing sound? is that signal also sent if the ARC option is turned on?
Thanks

Re: TX-SR309 Audio Out and ARC
In regards to your questions; (1) this would depend on the listening mode selected and audio format being presented by the source device and if the source device is actually doing any sound processing or if you have configured the source device to BITSTREAM (for example) and choose to have the receiver process the audio format. (2) The audio signal being transmitted via active Audio Return Channel will not be processed by the receiver- as it will PASS THRU the receiver while on STANDBY. This would be derivative of the outputting device (TV, etc.)

Thanks for the reply.
Good point on the bitstreaming. I usually have all of my source devices do that when possible. So what you're saying is that it will output exactly the same bits it is receiving even while in standby. This is good!
