Go Beyond 7.2 on the TX-NR708
I currently run my HT setup with a TX-NR708 which for me is my first experience utilizing an Onkyo head unit since I have for years been an avid Sony ES fan. I was wondering how can I build on the NR708 using the Preamp connections to connect my old Sony ES receiver to drive some extra speakers to to above and beyong 7.2 but still leveraging the latest support and benefits offered on the NR708. Any ideas or hints???

In regards to your previous SONY AV receiver; how many speaker channels were available for use and what was the RMS of the speaker channels of this unit as well? You can use the PRE-OUT terminals found on the rear of the TX-NR 708 to drive addidtional speakers along with a 3.1 or 5.1 speaker setting for your TX-NR 708 receiver. Re: Go Beyond 7.2 on the TX-NR708
The Sony Amp I want to connect to the NR708 is also 7.2. The power is 120W per channel. I am looking to add at least 4 more channels plus a sub. The plan is to provide a more extended wrap around experience given that I have the extra speakers to do this.
