Can I link HDMI devices to non-HDMI tv via the Onkya?
Simple question, but will cost me money to try it out...
1. TV without HDMI = My Schaub Lorenz TV doesn't have HDMI input (just DVI, RGB video, Component, euro-scart, s-video).
2. DVD player, etc have HDMI
3. Onkyo TX-SR313 = Currently I'm running the DVD component into Onkyo, and component out to TV.
If I run the DVD into the HDMI input, will I be able to use the Component out to watch it?
If not, is my current setup the best alternative?

Hi,
Unfortunetly that will not work as our units do not down convert. You would have to go into the receiver with component cables and then go out to the TV using component cables as well.
Thanks,

Can I link component vices to HDMI out?
THanks for your answer. I've worked out how to link the HDMI via the DVI-D with an adaptor - didn't realise DVI was digital.
So...
1. TV is linked to Onkyo via HDMI out. Working.
2. Can inputs via component cable be read through HDMI out? I've tried this, 'assigned' the component device, but it doesn't seem to be working.
Someone said: "the up-conversion issue from Component In to HDMI Out requires the source device to be sending in 480i format."

Is that correct?

Re: Can I link HDMI devices to non-HDMI tv via the Onkya?
On this receiver, TX-SR 313, it doesn't upconvert from COMPOSITE or COMPONENT to HDMI. It only passes thru the same A/V connection going INTO the receiver as the same going OUT OF the receiver. For example; using RCA COMPOSITE into the receiver will require a RCA COMPOSITE video cable OUT from the MONITOR OUT terminal of the receiver onto your TV. It WILL NOT pass thru HDMI. Models TX-NR 515 and higher will upconvert from RCA or COMPONENT VIDEO to HDMI. The upconversion feature you also eluded to refers only to the TX-NR 515, TX-NR 616, HT-RC 460 models only. Models TX-NR 717 do NOT require the source devices to have its video resolution output modified for the receiver.
