Rear surround speakers not working in 7.2 system

I have a 7.2 system with a Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver. The rear surrond speakers are not working, had them first hooked up to a rocketfishRF WHTIB and kept getting a check wire error, unhooked and ran straight from receiver to speaker and still not getting any sound. Went to the level calibration to see if I could get any sound, but nothing. Checked the wires to make sure the polarity was good and they are. System is new, just received and set up.
