TX-NR3008 no sound from any HDMI source either radio or network
Hi,
Just to let you know that my Onkyo NR3008 that I bought 2500$ two years ago(October) have the same problem that a lot of people here on the forum. The problem is that I bought the amplifier from USA and I"m in Canada... and my seller was not a certified seller... but, the ampli was new in is box and the selling price was 2500$. The right price for this type of equipment if this one have a 10 - 15 years life!!!
It was my second Onkyo, the first was an example of good sound ans stability for 13 years but now...
Now there is no sound from this unit except if I"m in a good mood to stop and start the ampli for 1-2 hours ( the time for him to restart to do some sound) and it take more and more time for the sound to resuscitate from the death.
I"m angry because, even if I didn't read before buying my second Onkyo that Onkyo have a list of Certified Seller so I'm not under any guarantee, I'm angry because at this price, the product need to be robust and trustable.
This is my last Onkyo product not to say, I will never recommand again any Onkyo product.

This was tested in our facility and have no issues with the receiver. When trying to adjust the BASS and/or TREBLE options- are you using the buttons on the receiver or remote controller? If using the remote controller; have you pressed the RECEIVER: REMOTE MODE button on the controller and then toggled the variables by pressing the RIGHT > or LEFT < arrow buttons? I did noticed if the RECIEVER button was not pressed and you attempt to adjust the settings- you are in turn causing the network feed to cancel and it drops the streaming content. It did not cause the unit to shut down from operation.
If you are still having this issue- it would possibly be more effective to contact our Product Support Dept for further assistance with this specific issue via our phone number and hours of operation below. We would like to speak with you and work to troubleshoot and resolve your issue, with you having access to your unit, as prompt as possible. Please contact our Product Support Dept for further assistance with this specific issue via our phone number and hours of operation (Monday- Friday 9am to 8pm EST/ Saturday- Sunday 10am to 4pm EST: (800) 229-1687; option #3 PRODUCT SUPPORT). It was the HDMI board
Shame on Onkyo...
I sent it to an "Official' service center (http://www.clefdesol.com/atelier2000/) in Canada and they just call me back to tell me that my HDMI board id dead like sooooooooooooooo many people in this forum
Do you remember the RROD problem with the Xbox from Microsoft... This is how a company handle a problem who seem to affect a lot of people.
I paid the 350$ for the repair and I will remember Onkyo all my life like on my facebook, tweeter and so on....

Update to my concern
Like most of you already know, Onkyo didn't response to me.
I called my repair center today and my "NEW" HDMI board is inside my "old" 2 years NR3008.
I will picked up next friday and will be able to enjoy this unit for another 2 years ( I hope so...) after that,
it will be the end of my wedding with this company after nearly 25 years.
The fact is, you can only know how good is a partner when problems rise...
Like I said before, no matter where you bought it, (we are in the XXI not in the middle of the XX century, we have Internet and can buy everything outside our frontier) when you buy something at 2000$ it is a shame that this unit broke after one year and half.
When my unit crashed, it fried one of my Polk Audio (RTiA9) Loud speaker. I just wrote to Polk and they sent me with NO charges, even without my serial number, one tweeter and two mid range speaker. This is what you can call after sale service.
Good luck to all of you with the HDMI crap inside Onkyo products and think about it next time you need to buy an Amp or AV.

Re: TX-NR3008 no sound from any HDMI source either radio or network
Hello Mod,
I too am in Quebec City and have a TX-NR3008 with the same symptoms being serviced under warranty as I write this.
I've noticed that extended warranties are available to US customers online at shoponkyo.com.
Can these plans be bought by Canadians?
I tried to purchase one last week but when checking out there is only options for American addresses for billing and shipping.
Please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately; Onkyo manufacturer's extended warranties are NOT offered for Canadian Onkyo customers. Please contact our Parts & Services Dept at the number listed below during normal business hours Monday-Friday 9am-5pm EST ; or via email at parts@us.onkyo.com. They can be contacted at 201-785-2600, option # 4 for Parts & Services as they can further assist you regarding warranty and service issues. You will need to speak with the Parts & Services/ Warranty department for any servicing options or resolutions available for your issue.

Re: TX-NR3008 no sound from any HDMI source either radio or network
Unfortunately, I just discovered that I am having the same issue; no selectable audio out, inability to select Network or Firmware upgrade within the Setup Menu. After some research, it turns out that this has been identified as a processor issue for which the bulk of the processors reside on the HDMI Board. Even further, there has been a reported and demonstrated fix that could be pursued, however, my unit is under warranty for another week and a half so not an option that I want to undertake at this time. There are two Service Center's nearby my location in Texas, but I have read some disparaging reviews and am reluctant to send the unit to one of them. So the questions I have are where can I send my unit for repairs that is reputable, and what is this "Extended Warranty" that has been discussed on this thread? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
Thank you in advance.

Re: TX-NR3008 no sound from any HDMI source either radio or network
Thank you for the quick response. I had also called the Onkyo Service Department and they directed me to the same establishment. I contacted ABL Corp, created a service ticket, received an RMA #, and will be shipping the unit today for repair.
So a couple of questions; is the extended warranty an additional two years of coverage? And if so, how does one purchase such?
Thank you,
Mike S.

Re: TX-NR3008 no sound from any HDMI source either radio or network
Extended Warranties are available for purchase from Onkyo's Product Orders dept, they are available Monday- Friday 9am- 5pm EST. They are also supported by the Warranty Department/ representative. Unfortunately- extended warranties are only offered and available while the unit is still under the manufacturer's warranty. Please contact our Product Orders Dept at the number listed below during normal business hours Monday-Friday 9am-5pm EST. They can be contacted at 201-785-2600, option # 5 for the Orders Dept.
