NR515 Zone 2 and OnQ Buzz
I am trying to connect an NR515 to an OnQ system via the unpowered Zone 2 line out jacks. Whenever I make the connection, even before I try to play anything from any source, I immediately hear a buzzing noise through ALL speakers. Not just those connected to the OnQ system, but even my main Zone 1 speakers as well. The buzzing persists once I play music, regardless of the source...I can hear music, but the buzz is right there, "underneath" the sound. The buzz volume stays the same regardless of the volume level.
- The OnQ inputs are two RCA audio connectors, L/R. Any unamplified source should be able to connect to it.
- My OnQ system is working fine, I have been using my iPod to play music from it with a 3/8 to RCA splitter with no issues whatsoever. I've also used an Android phone to do this successfully.
- I have tried three different sets of RCA audio cables, including one out of the box. They all behave the same.
- The buzzing persists whether or not Zone 2 is powered.
- If I put a speaker directly in a powered output for Zone 2, I still hear the buzzing.
- Finally, if I connect the Zone 2 line out to my computer speakers, I still hear the buzzing.
That last test clinched it for me. Does my beautiful brand-new receiver have an issue with Zone 2, or am I misunderstanding how the "line out" works?

Re: NR515 Zone 2 and OnQ Buzz
Possibly related update...I connected my PC to the receiver via the headphone jack with a 3/8 to RCA splitter. Got the buzz immediately. OnQ was not a factor at all since nothing's connected to Zone 2 right now. When I make the same PC headphone to RCA connection to my OnQ system, and there's no buzz. I get no buzz using the same cables and receiver connection on my iPod or Android. For my relatively new laptop, there's no buzz for either system connection.
Maybe the receiver is picking up signal off of 110v powered devices...no idea.

Going to pick up a ground loop isolator and see what that gets me...I'm guessing that'll do the trick...
