TX-NR414 turns off
Ive had this unit for a week and it now will shut off by itself 5 seconds after it is turned on. Does the same thing with the remote or the power button on the unit. Does not matter what input is selected. Unplugged unit for 10 mins and plugged back in with no help. Ideas?

Re: TX-NR414 turns off
The amp protection circuit has been activated. Please remove all speaker and input connections from the unit and unplug the receiver for an hour. Reconnect the receiver to the power supply with NO connections and power ON the unit. Increase the volume; if the unit doesn't shut down after running for a few minutes- power the receiver down and reconnect the FRONT pair of speakers and repower the receiver again. If after running for a few moments; and it doesn't shut down- power down the receiver again and reconnect the CENTER speaker and follow the same process. Power down the unit and then reconnect the SURR speakers and follow the same process. Power down to unit and connect an input connection and follow the same process.
If the receiver still does not turn on than you will have to bring it in for service. If the unit shuts down again, your unit will need to be further serviced at an authorized Onkyo service center. To obtain service, take or ship your Onkyo product to an Onkyo Authorized Service Center. Please also include in any mailing a contact name, address and telephone number. Please include a copy of the original sales receipt/invoice as well as a letter stating what the problem is, with your name address and phone number so the service center knows who to return the unit to. Please note, before shipping, you must contact the authorized service center to inform them that you will be sending your unit in for repair.

I have the same type of problem with an old model TX-SR501 AV Receiver. Is there a schematic for this model somewhere?

Unfortunately; service manuals (schematics) are only available for review of authorized Onkyo service centers. You will need to have your unit serviced for this issue.
