Onkyo TX-NR809 shuts off for no reason Empty My New TX-NR809 Shuts Down After Two Minutes!

Post  w6fxj Tue Jan 17, 2012 8:12 pm

I just received and installed a new TX-NR809 to upgrade from a perfectly functioning TX-NR708. When doing the initial setup the TX-NR809 gave a loud POP and immediately shut down! When I turned it back on to continue, the left front channel was low in volume and there was no center channel. The right front, right and left side and subwoofer were OK. But, after about two minutes the TX-NR809 popped again and shut down. Thinking I had a speaker wiring problem I disconnected the left and center speakers. But the TX-NR809 refused to stay on more than a couple of minutes. Then I called Onyko Tech Support in NJ and went over the problem with them. The representative thought it has an internal problem and suggested I contact the Dealer I bought it from to get a replacement. The dealer agreed to do that and emailed me a FedEx lable to ship the bad one back. In the meantime a replacement TX-NR809 is on its way to me. Stay tuned for later information!
