RCA/HDMI Connections

On a HT-S5500 can you use the RCA out cables from the VCR out to connect to the TV and then use a HDMI connection in for a Blu-Ray player? If not can this been done if you use component cables instead of RCA's?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish so I can better assist you with your inquiry?

I assume that if you use a HDMI connection into the receiver that you have to use an HDMI out to the TV only. I guess if you use a HDMI in you can't use RCA out to a TV.

Correct. If connecting into the receiver via HDMI; you can't down-convert the connection using either COMPONENT VIDEO or RCA COMPOSITE video cable connections. If you are planning to use a non-HDMI connection using this receiver, you will need to also use the same connection type from the source device into the receiver as well. For instance; if you want to use a COMPONENT VIDEO (RGB) connection out from the receiver- you will need to also use a COMPONENT VIDEO cable into the receiver. The same for RCA COMPOSITE video as well.
