I bought a new blue ray player this weekend and hooked it up to my receiver and I get constant blackouts and a fuzzy picture when I do get one. I took it back and got another one (LG brand). The second did the same and I took it back and tried a Samsung with still the same results. I tried a different HDMI cord, same problem, tried different HDMI slots same problem. I tried hooking it directly into the TV and it worked fine. I then tried updating firmware. It still doesn't work. I don't know what else to do. The Receiver is a TX-nr709. I shouldn't be having this problem. HELP!!!!!!

The Mod will get back to you but in the meantime, do you have anything else connected to the 709 with HDMI capability that does work? STB, Streamer etc.?

If not and you are probably on the phone already....

Product Support: 1-800-229-1687.

Have the serial number handy.

Good luck

I Have used the HDMI ports with other devices with no problem. I have an X-Box and my old blue ray player worked fine. I got home from work too late to call.

Hi,

After you updated did you unplug your unit for at least 5 minutes. It has fixed all problems I had with my
TX-NR717 after my last firmware update.

If you have not done it I would and see if it helps.

Good luck.

Questions; in the settings of your BluRay player- does it have the VIDEO settings of HDMI DEEP COLOR and 1080p/ 24 enabled? If so, try disabling either or both options to further determine if this resolves the issue? As the receiver also have these settings enabled and both devices having the same features can cause some adverse issues with the video presentation thru the receiver. Have you also pressed the DISPLAY button of the receiver while using the BD/DVD input repeatedly to indicate the current audio/ video incoming and outgoing signals from the source device (BD player) into the receiver as well?

I would suggest you try to reserve a SKYPE callback reservation (using a Skype enabled device or webcam and microphone, iPad or Android tablet device with Skype, or cellphone with Skype) for an interactive and visual presentation of your current setup so we can further assist you at the following weblink: http://www.onkyousa.com/support_appointment_afaq.cfm?skype=y. This reservation is available Monday -Friday 10am to 4pm EST; we would like to view your setup and work to resolve your issue. This option is only available for Onkyo USA and Onkyo Canada customers only; please contact your regional Onkyo Product Support department for further assistance if you are not an Onkyo USA or Onkyo Canada customer.

Best Regards;

I turned off the HDMI deep color and that fixed the problem. I just had a hard time getting a picture long enough to do it. Everything is working fine now. Thanks for your help.
