Can my 709 turn on a power amplifier?

I have a onkyo 709 and a emotiva power amp. I use the amp to power my front speakers only. Seems to be I cant use the ri outlet to turn the amp on, but it does turn it off. And the zone 2 trigger outlet might work but I acutually have zone 2 outdoor speaker hooked up to the onkyo. So I dont think I wanna turn my outdoor speaks on every time I power up the unit. Am I missing something. Do I have to manually turn my amp on? This sucks! Why cant things just work?
