Connecting Nvida HDMI to Onkyo
Hello all,
I have tried and failed to connect my Nvidia GTX550 Ti to my Onkyo TX-NR414 via HDMI
It is just not recognized, in playback devices it is shown the model but can't choose it as it is "Not plugged in" mode.
I have checked cables, updated bios, drivers etc and no luck..
I have no idea why it is not working, why the Nvidia is not detecting Onkyo as valid playback device ?
Any ideas?
thanks

Hi vladoportos,
Have you contacted Nvidia to inquire as to why this may be happening? Just curious, how do you have that connected to the 414?

Re: Connecting Nvida HDMI to Onkyo
Hello,
Its connected via HDMI to PC ( HDMI 5 or 4 ) port on AV receiver.
I will contact Nvidia also, just not sure in which device is the issue present, I read somewhere on forum that Onkyo ( another model ) receiver would not
play sound if the resolution was higher than TV's, but I don't need video just audio as PC is connected to LED monitor and another LG LCD TV via DVI cables... I just would like to have sound go to AV receiver to speaker...
Not sure if buying ASUS Xonar HDAV1.3 which is good sound card with hdmi output would work .. ( don't wont to throw away 180$ and it wont play via receiver in the end... )
Regards,
Vlad

Re: Connecting Nvida HDMI to Onkyo
Hi Vlad,
Let us know what they say when you contact them as it should work as designed. If you're only going to use the receiver for audio have tried connecting an optical cable?
