Ni sound out of surrounds in surround modes on TX-NR807
A friend has a new 807 which we''re trying to set up with some 8 ohm Polk inwall speakers. We configured the speakers with the Audessey setup. We are having some problems, can someone help?
* We have 7 speakers - fronts, highs (in the front), a center, and rear surrounds. (No sub, yet.) In the "speaker configuration" setup screen, the fronts are set to "Full Band". The center has a 40hz cutoff and the surrounds are at 60hz. When playing two channel audio, none of the surround modes except for "Multichannel All Channel Stereo" will send any sound at all to the surrounds. Shouldn't it?
* THe different surround modes seem to have different levels of bass. Is that normal? We're paranoid that we didn't set something up right.
.
Thanks.
- Dave

Re: Ni sound out of surrounds in surround modes on TX-NR807
Please move your speaker wiring connecton from SURR BACK over to the SURR terminals; as you are using FRONT HIGH for a 7.0 speaker configuration on this receiver. Your speaker connections should be the following:
- FRONT L + R
- CENTER
- SURR L + R
- FRONT HIGH L + R
- SUBWOOFER (will make this connection a 7.1 connection)
Try conducting Audyssey again and if you experience any further issues; please contact our Product Support department promptly for further assistance.

Re: Ni sound out of surrounds in surround modes on TX-NR807
Thank you for the response to Dave T.
I'm his brother-in-law and working on the system. Rechecked the connections, and Dave might have confused the rear speakers as rear surrounds. They are hooked up as the "SURROUNDS" and the rear surrounds are reallocated as "FRONT HIGH".
The system sees them as such so I believe the configuration is correct.
Just don't understand why the only Music setting that sends music to the "SURROUNDS" is All Channel Stereo
Currently only focusing on music and it is being transmitted via HDMI from a PC . 24bit, 192000 Hz
Under 2-2. Speaker Configuration
Subwoofer no
Front Full Band (Due to lack of Sub)
Center 40hz
Surround 60hz
Front Wide NONE
Front High 50hz
Surr Back NONE
Surr Back CH ----
LPF of LFE 80hz(THX)
Likewise, 2-3. Speaker Distance Lists:
Left 11.5
Front High Left 12
Front High Right 12
Surr Right 7.5
Surr Left 7.0
2-4. Level Calibration Variety of negative values
2-5 Equalizer AUDYSSEY
2-6. THX Audio Setup Loudness Plus On
3-2. Dolby PLIIx Panorama On
3-4. Audyssey
Dynamic EQ On
Dynamic Volume Light
I was hoping the the SP Layout button may provide some information.
Below is the results for each listening Mode:
MultiChannel All Channel Stereo FH
MultiChannel Full Mono FH
MultiChannel DTS Surround Sensation No
MultiChannel Pure Audio No
MultiChannel Direct No
MultiChannel Stereo No
MultiChannel No
MultiChannel Dolby PlIIz Height No
MultiChannel Audyssey DSX FH
MultiChannel THX Music No
MultiChannel Dolby PLIIz Height THX Music No
MultiChannel Dolby PLIIz Height Orchestra FH
MultiChannel Dolby PLIIz Height Unplugged FH
MultiChannel Dolby PLIIz Height Studio-Mix FH
I'm not picking up any pattern from the above. e.g.
MultiChannel All Channel Stereo FH
MultiChannel No
MultiChannel Dolby PlIIz Height No
MultiChannel Dolby PLIIz Height Orchestra FH
It doesn't seem to matter what LM was selected, sound only came from the Surround speakers in All Channel Stereo, or so subtle to evade detection.
Any ideas?
Thank You.
