HT-RC360 Firmware update -Do the updates wipeout settings?

Howdy all.

New poster boy here... I currently have an HT-RC360, but my question probably spans most of Onkyo models... When a firmware update is loaded, do they wipe out the existing settings?... ex: Audessy, music channels, etc? I'm questioning what happened on my update.

Depending on the firmware version and information provided from the USB FIRMWARE INSTRUCTIONS found on the SUPPORT portion of the ONKYO webpage- it should state if the firmware update version will also cause a factory hard reset onto the receiver to further update the F/W version onto the receiver. Referring this F/W update- it will cause a factory reset of the receiver to further store the firmware version onto the receiver.

I did go to the:
Onkyo Homepage > Customer Support > Download Center > Software
(http://www.us.onkyo.com/download/software.cfm) page, and I did download the USB firmware.

There was no README or other file, within the .zip file. There also was no explanation on the page, for what the various firmware downloads fixed or serviced. And, there was no "firmware version" shown on that page.

Where are you getting your information? Can you provide a link?

Seeing the different updates on the support page....

How do we find out what the firmware update does for "our" model?
There are times, situations, that we DON'T want to do the update, or would like to wait to do the update later, to see if there are any new/additional problems that the update creates.

In my situation, there is an update for the HT-360, but I don't have a clue on what it will do for my unit.

Will you please assist me with this?

Referring to the weblink you provided above; it will direct you onto a webpage that'll show the following:

-Firmware Updates
- DATE
- MODEL NUMBER
- Firmware Type...

Under FIRMWARE TYPE; there will be two options : UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS and DOWNLOAD. Click on UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS and this pdf will describe the firmware version number and what this firmware version addresses and what new modifications/ effects will be resulted from this firmware update.
