HT-R380 HDMI Issues
Hi All-
I've been having issues with the HDMI on my AVR for awhile now, with the screen going blank and the standard "searching for signal" message from my TV playing. In the past this issue either resolved itself or was fixed by reseating the HDMI cables. As of last night the problem appears to be permanent (12 hours plus with no video):
Searching the forums, I see that this is a common problem. What I am not seeing is a solution proposed by any other users or Onkyo. Returning the unit isn't an option - it is over a year old from Amazon.

I've been having issues with the HDMI on my AVR for awhile now, with the screen going blank and the standard "searching for signal" message from my TV playing. In the past this issue either resolved itself or was fixed by reseating the HDMI cables. As of last night the problem appears to be permanent (12 hours plus with no video):
- I've reset all of the cables, power cycled everything, and double checked the channel assignments.
- Connecting the cable box directly to the TV via HDMI works fine, but cancels out my surround sound.
- I can occasionally get audio, but only with a blue screen and no message, or a black screen and a no signal message.
- If I turn off the TV, the audio comes through just fine.
- Sometimes, for a fraction of a second, a video image will flash through, but then it goes back off. During this time a message pops up that says the settings are 720p and that my display is not compatible. When everything is working okay, the display is in 1080.
Searching the forums, I see that this is a common problem. What I am not seeing is a solution proposed by any other users or Onkyo. Returning the unit isn't an option - it is over a year old from Amazon.

Please contact our Product Support staff at 800-229-1687, we are here from 9am to 8pm Mon. to Fri. and also on Sat. and Sun. from 10am to 4pm. Please make sure that you have access to your unit when you call so one of our Product Support members can do some troubleshooting and try to resolve your problem.

I was finally able to talk to a live person via the customer support number today. The problem has been diagnosed as a bad HDMI board. I am lucky in that the closest authorized dealer is only an hour away, but very frustrating in that I can SEE the HDMI board and am confident that I could replace it myself if they would just send me one...
