component hookup on monitor out
how can I hookup my projector that uses the three componet in cables, to my nr 709 and still use my tv also.
I cant seem to get this to work, the reciver is smarter than I, i used to do this on my old harman/kardon system. maybe I puting the cables in the wrong place, i assume the would go to monitor out?
thanks for any help, i am new at this so please excuse me if it is not where to post this at.

Hi Tlewis51,
How are the sources connected that you want to go out to your projector and how is the TV connected?

Re: component hookup on monitor out
the tv goes through HDMI and the projector must hook with a single video cable(yellow) or the component (rgb) cable,I is hookup to the NR 709 at the monitor out place, that's the way it is hooked now, but i get no picture on the projector, tv works fine.

Re: component hookup on monitor out
Hi Tlewis51,
It should work as long as you not trying to down convert the signal from HDMI out to component, in other words if you have a device going in HDMI and try to see the picture out of your component out this will not work. It will work in the opposite direction though.

Hi Tlewis51,
Down converting a signal means that you take a source and put it in an HDMI input and try to use something like a component output for video and audio.

Hi Tlewis51,
I've tested it here and it will work as long as my previous statements are adhered to.

Hi Tlewis51,
I tested our direct TV box running component in on the receiver and out component to a TV using component then using an hdmi cable from the receiver I took that out to another TV and both TV's had picture.

Re: component hookup on monitor out
OK sounds like a good way to do, here is how this is set up -- cabel box has HDMI out to the reciver (sat/cbl in) (not the component side, its empty) then the projector is out from the recivers Monitor out connectors(rgb) then from the receivers Hdmi out to the TV, I get a tv picture but nothing to the projector. I do thank you for taking all this time in helping me, i was ready to return this receiver and try another brand, but this had such high ratings I want to use it.

Hi Tlewis51,
I know you said it would be hard for you connect this with an Ethernet cable but this may prove whether it is a router issue or a receiver issue.

Re: component hookup on monitor out
According to your last post It looks like you are trying to down convert the video signal which is something that can not be done on any of our or other manufacturers receivers.
