TX-NR717 PROBLEMS...
Hi All,
Is anyone else having a problem with their TX-NR717 with while on any source you get a flashing and/or snap of sound at any time?
When TV (LG-New Set) is turned on and receiver in pass-through is 1st turned on flashing and snapping for like 1st fifteen minutes. Called Onkyo Support and said they are working on this issue and it is a HDMI Handshaking issue.. was told to just change HDMI input back and forth for a sec and it will lock in the HDMI Handshake. That works fine for a while.. then it starts to happen again not constant.. just at anytime. I am afraid it is going to damage my new LG 3D TV. Changing the HDMI input is a quick fix. When is this going to be corrected Onkyo?? This also does the same when the receiver is on in any source. Maybe a FW update like seems to have helped the 515 and 616's issues. Unacceptable. Is anyone else having this issue or any others with their TX-NR717?
Would love to hear other TX-NR717 owners.

Any RESPONSE ONKYO??
Onkyo.. ANY RESPONSE?? This has been being tested at your NJ facility since the beginning of October (I have been told)? I have been a loyal Onkyo Customer for over 35 years. Since I upgraded my system for the 3-D Blu-Ray on August 30, 2012 this has been a nightmare that does not end!! I still do not have proper working equipment. What are you working on for the TX-NR717's??

I have been in contact with your customer service...
Hi Mod,
I have been in contact with Onkyo's support via telephone, e-mails since August. Lately e-mails go unanswered. Promises from Onkyo Support and higher up's to follow thru do not appear!!. I guess once Onkyo replaces your TWO previous DEFECTIVE UNITS (HDMI ISSUES) your on your own with a unit that does NOT WORK as it should.
After 35 loyal years and personal injury from August now. Onkyo knows this is a HDMI Board Issue it is ALL OVER THE INTERNET. Don't you think it is time for a recall of this whole defective line and replace to make your customers confident in your products?
Very very dissapointed.

No answers Onkyo... 11-2-12
Onkyo,
I have replied to the Mod's question. ANY UPDATE?? Since upper management does NOT follow through with the emails sent either.
Onkyo used to be THE BEST in my opinion.. Never had ANY PROBLEMS with previous receivers.
I am stuck with a LEMON! Thanks Onkyo.

Any update ONKYO??
Onkyo, Any update on the problem I am having with my new TX-NR717??? Are you coming out with a firmware fix for the TX-NR717's also? Since there is NO REPLY FROM YOUR SUPORT TEAM or UPPER MANAGEMENT who guaranteed me that they (upper management) would follow through. I have a product of yours that DOES NOT WORK AS IT SHOULD. I hope this LEMON does not blow out my new TV with its actions. Maybe time to call the NJ State Attorney General and the BBB of NJ. I HAVE HAD IT!!!!! This has been going on since AUGUST.

TX-NR717 problem resolved so far...
Hi All,
My TX-NR717 since Saturday has been working great with no picture and/or sound snapping. The TX-NR717 is a GREAT RECEIVER! Always said that about Onkyo Products - That is the reason for the past 35+ years I have only bought Onkyo. The sound is AMAZING!! I hope it continues to work as well as it has been for the past few days for many years to come.
Thank you to many many members of these forums and others on the internet for posts about different problems on either this receiver model or others. While going through all the threads and other boards I saw lots of tips that users were doing and the one that worked was to unplug the unit for exactly 5 minutes - then as you plug the unit in, press and hold the power on button. Then do your normal power on! BINGO.
Thank you again my fellow Onkyo Forum posters for the fix.
