TX-DS989 Shutting Down
Hello to all.
The search function did not reveal ANY previous posts on this model so I was hoping someone could shed some light.
TX-DS989. Have had it for almost 10 years and has worked flawlessly all that time....... until now. Rented a movie from Blockbuster kiosk and it seems to have caused my receiver to overheat. Did the same thing to another cheap RCA I have that is brand new. Seems weird that the movie did that on 2 seperate units, but too much to be a coincidence.
Now when I power on the TX-DS989, it powers on for 3 seconds, then there is an audible click, and it shuts down with the standby light blinking. I know this is the protection circuit, but was hoping someone could pinpoint exactly what it is, so I could repair. I have a background in electronics so would like to look at it myself before I send it out.
But just in case, can anyone suggest a quality certified repair shop in my area (Jacksonville, FL)?
Thanks for any help!!

Re: TX-DS989 Shutting Down
Hi scottscar54,
Without being bench tested to determine what the cause or causes there is really no way find out why the unit heats up and now is going into amp protect. You may take it to any service center you'd like at this point but keep in mind that all I can do is offer authorized service centers.

Authorized Service Center
Thank you for the reply. Closest authorized service center would work quite nicely. Prefer someplace I can carry my receiver in if possible which means northeast Florida. Is there a center near me?
