TX-NR809 & RC-810M Other component Codes
I am trying to program the referenced remote to work with my HDTV and Blu Ray. I go into setup for the remote select the brand. Then when I attempt to search for the model I get a message that the receiver is unable to connect to the database. The receiver is connecting thru the UWF wifi dongle. I can listen to internet music, so I know the receiver is connecting to the network. Any ideas/

Hi CorgiNW,
Does this also happen when the receiver is connected with the cat5 cable direct to the back? If you can give this a try.

I am not real eager to disconnect all my cables, drag the receiver upstairs and connect it to my router. The whole point of purchasing the wifi dongle was to avoid this. So, am I to infer that your wifi dongle will not allow the receiver to access your online database? Do you have the list of codes online somewhere so that I can look up the appropriate code number?

Hi CorgiNW,
We only wanted to you test it with a cat5 to rule out where the issue lies either within the dongle or within the receiver. This information will help us to troubleshoot the situation further. Our list of remote codes can be found here on our website: http://www.onkyousa.com/download/own_manuals.cfm?cat=Remote Control Thank you.

OK, I dragged it upstairs to connect to my router via the ethernet port. I started by telling it to update the firmware. It said it had the latest firmware. So, this would suggest that the ethernet connection was working.
I then tried again to configure the remote to work with my LG HDTV and my Samsung Blu Ray player. In both instances it said it could not connect to the database. So, the problem does not appear to be the UWF-1. The problem is either the receiver or your database isn't working properly.

BTW, when I went to the URL you listed for the list of codes there was no listing for the TX-NR809 or the RC 810M.

Hi CorgiNW,
Instead of selecting search by model number, select skip this will take you another screen which will provide you with all the remote codes for devices. Search by model number via net is not available for all manufactures. Thank you.

Same problem here ... Any shortcut to finding correct codes?
I have the same receiver and remote and experiencing the same problem of not being able access the remote database when searching by model number, despite having all other network functionality working fine.
So I skip the model number search, but then it wants me to try each remote code one at a time until I find the right one. Since there are 75 possible codes for my tv listed, this process could go on for hours (enter programming mode, start download to remote, wait for rerceiver to program remote, test codes, .repeat.. Its a tedious process)... And then do the same thing for my directv box and bluray..... There's got to be an easier way. Any suggestions?

Hi PeterAv,
Is that number "75" the overall number of individual codes or is that just for one manufacturer?

Hi forum users,
For those of you that are having issues programming your remote controls such as not being able to access the data base over the net. I will need you to PM me with your MAC address of the receivers you have.
To find the MAC address please "setup => hardware setup => network"

Yes, 75 for one brand
I'm on the road right now, so can't verify the number, it was either 65 or 75. I tried the first three, none worked, and got too frustrated with the onerous process, especially when seeing the on screen menus showing 1/75, 2/7, 3/75. Etc.

I'm having the same exact issue...has there been a resolution? I've also PM'd you with my NR809's MAC address. Thanks!

Not yet
No solution yet....They want me to send in my receiver to thier diagnosing lab to help them evaluate the problem. They won't tell me how long they need it. I am reluctant to give up my receiver for an indefinite period of time (and hence not have music, tv, etc in the interim) just to solve a remote control programming issue. Further, they can't tell me if they can send me a replacement receiver to use while they use my receiver to diagnose what fundamentally is their problem. If this was a fault with just my receiver, and it rendered my receiver unusuable, that would be one thing. But this is a systemic issue a lot of people are having.

Hi PeterAv,
You will be sending to our corporate headquarters to be fixed which in turn will greatly reduce your down time.

Suddenly seems to be fixed!!
On a whim, I tried to program my remote once again today using the network based lookup from the receiver. This was probably the 10th time that I've tried in the past month. And lo and behold, IT WORKED today!!! I could connect to the database for the first time! To my knowledge, I made no changes to my receiver that fixed it (such as a firmware upgrade) . Therefore, I assume this was fixed on the Onkyo side.
However, My first couple attempts to program my remote to control my tv were only partly successful... The tv function that each button does seems to be messed up. For example, After programming, the tv on/off button controls the tv input source, the input button does an "all off", etc. I'll keep trying, and post to a different thread if this incorrect programming persists.

Hi PeterAv,
We are glad you were able to get it to work. Thank you for choosing Onkyo.
