NR-809 : DTS 5.1 outputs as 7.1

I and many other forum members at AVS have observed and posted that DTS 5.1 (lossy or lossless) are outpit in 7.1 matrixed form.
This problem is not observed for Dolby sources.
We suspect that this "bug" may have been introduced after update of firmware ver. 1121-1177-0211-3107

Could anybody throw some light?

It seems that NR-709 is also affected..

I have this problem as well. DTS 5.1 soundtracks from DVDs and BDs on both of my players, bitstreamed via HDMI, are being interpreted by my NR-809 as 7.1 soundtracks. This problem is recent and may have been caused by a firmware update.

Such a silence from Onkyo means this is a problem and will need FW fix. Else we would have received various instructions to trouble shoot it by now...

Okay Onkyo at least tell us if the FW is coming anytime soon...

From 2011 models they have changed the spec according to DTS requirement.
When you have DTS5.1 signals, our 2011 receivers output as 7.1 this is normal operation.

One way it gives me relief that this is not a bug, but on the other hand I am not able to believe that there is such a DTS requirement to (kind of corrupt) modify the original sound track.

Could you please point me to a link where this requirement is stated. I am curious..

Dear Onkyo, are you saying that DTS 5.1 will output as 7.1 on ALL brands of receivers made after 2010? This is hard to believe.
