Onkyo TX-NR717 Home Media from password share Empty Onkyo TX-NR717 Home Media from password share

The manual advises to create user account without password in order to use Home Media to play from a share. Having accounts without passwords is rather unacceptable from the security point of view. I'm using Windows 7 machine and I can see it in the HomeMedia screeen, as soon as I select it I get "authentication failed". There is no popup to enter user name or password. How can I connect to a password protected share?

Home Media is for use of Apple/ Samba servers and doesn't connect using Windows 7 (Windows Media Player). DLNA is compatible with Windows 7/ Windows Media Player 12. This may be the reasoning why you are no table to utilize Home Media.

Onkyo TX-NR717 Home Media from password share Empty Exactly the opposite problem

For me the DLNA will not work. I'm using Win 7 computers/WMP 12 and get nothing but "No Server" when trying to use DLNA. If i use Home Media the 515 recognizes the servers. If i disable DHCP in the Network setup I can stream music to the 515 using Home Media (but not DLNA).
